  2. I’ve pretty well spread my sleeping bag here - from Arab (some sitemeters say Union Grove), AL. Awfully glad you don’t make me pay rent. All the best, Hook!

  4. Franklinton, Louisiana. Had never heard of a blog until three years ago when I happened upon Mudville which, in time, led me to other military blogs, including yours. I am eternally grateful to have stumbled on/into the world of milblogs. Not only have I gained a better (more accurate!) understanding of the GWOT and the brave troops serving, but it inspired me to organize a small group that supports our wounded heroes at Walter Reed and Brook.

    Many thanks to you and all those who serve our country - and to their family members who support them.

  8. Sgt Hook;
    I’ve been checking your site, almost daily, for quite some time. You seem like a very “hands on” CSM, not what I remember from my time - 30 plus years ago. Thank you, stay safe. Happy New Year !!!
    PS. If your family needs somrthing that falls outside of what the Army can do make sure you contact the Gathering of Eagles chapter in your home state, we won’t let you down.

In view of a recent tendency to identify characters in fiction with real people, it seems proper to state that there are no real people in this volume: both the characters and their names are ficticious. The names or designations of any military units are ficticious. There are no living people nor existing military units presented in this book. -Ernest Hemingway

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
