Those storms act the same way out on Gonzo Station. That was during the hostage crisis in 79-81. 9 month deployment to the Arabian Sea aboard the Good Ship Ranger CV61: Sep 80-May 81.
Been there, done that.
Love you guys.
From the Retired Petty Officer.

Desert storms... people hear of them, but most of us do not experience them. I did see snow on the desert once, which was odd, but never smelled the rain.

I can remember nearly every one of my Dad's duty stations by smell.

Funny how the rain 'smells' can be so different, depending on where you are. From rain in a city to rain in the country, each smell can conjure up memories from our pasts. Short quick storms can wash the cobwebs from minds, refresh our spirits, even lighten our hearts.
I love a good storm!
