What’s it worth to drive to work unafraid your car might explode into flames as a result of an improvised explosive device hidden along your route? What’s it worth to send your kids off to school not worrying if an evil band of hooded men will take their classroom hostage killing several innocent children? What’s it worth to go shopping for more than just the necessities without a bomb going off in the middle of the market? What’s it worth to log onto your computer and read this blog or send an email to a friend or loved one any time of the day you wish? What’s it worth to sit at home and watch two teams battle it out on the football field knowing the losing team is not going to be put to death for their loss?
“dear soldiers’ angels,
i have just received the laptop and blanket and would like to say from the bottom of my heart thank you. what meant the most to me was the coin that was in the card. if there is anything this marine might be able to do for you in the future please ask. your support means a lot to us and countless others that will be going after us. once again thank you.
You know, i think this is an amazing program. The only thing that bums me out about it, is that with buisness being so slow at my work, i’m barely making enough money to pay my bills and buy groceries for my family, so i can’t donate this time around.
Keep up the good work, Hook, keep spreading the word about programs like this.
In case i’ve never mentioned it, i was stationed at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center for the first 4 years of this OIF, and i can tell you right now, from witnessing it first hand, that programs like this are a godsend for our injured warriors.

Newest Medal of Honor Recipients
Everyone knows at least one Veteran, but not everyone knows his story. When my Grandfather was alive his stories of fighting and pain frightened me. But looking back I’m glad I got to hear the struggles he dealt with, especially in today’s world when we’re at war yet so far from the danger. On the week of November 5th NBC Nightly News is airing a series profiling recipients of the Medal of Honor and it’s something I wish my Poppy could be a part of.
Nightly is outlining their stories by collecting interviews with them, their families, and comrades. Their stories will also be complimented by the interviews with personal photographs, newsreel and archival footage and stills. If there’s a special Veteran in your life who can’t talk to anymore, definitely check this out @: http://www.methodshop.com/index.shtml
Sgt Hook,
just wanted you to know I’m sponsoring Army ‘kneedeepinthehooah’ on this one. Hey, us women have to stick together…She’s running a 5k race to boot! But since it’s all going to the same pot, it’s all good, NO? And after all the bills are paid, maybe the rest of the teams will get a little too. Thanks for making me think, care, cry and laugh.
Kinton, no need to feel bad about not having the money to donate. In fact, despite being a co-founder of this program and heading up our three annual fundraisers, I have not been able to donate more than a pittance to this program until very recently. Which leads me to my point…
There are other ways to contribute that can be exponentially more effective than a donation–such as spreading the word by email and conversation, or postingflyers so that tens, hundreds, or even thousands more people end up donating. I don’t know if you work for a large corporation or not (are you on commission?), but maybe your company might be interested in getting involved, too…
So, even though you can’t put money down for Valour-IT, your gift of time can be even more valuable.
Thank you so much for your past and present support of Valour-IT!
The Thunder Run has linked to this post in the - Web Reconnaissance for 11/06/2007 A short recon of what’s out there that might draw your attention, updated throughout the day…so check back often.
Hook!!! I found you! I was a loyal reader a while back until my computer up and died. I was actually hunting around for something else when you popped into my head and I found your blog again. I missed reading your posts! Thanks for spreading the word about Project Valour-IT. I’m still an Angel and I’m still challenging (threatening, LOL) my friends to donate. *grin*

♦ Veterans - Use your VA Benefits to Refinance your home loan with VA Loan Refinancing from VLC.
♦ Allured by a cheap car insurance and other cheap deals. Many tend to overspend on their credit card. This leads them to loans and eventually a debt. If you are planning to work at home, you will have to be careful about all this and more.
In view of a recent tendency to identify characters in fiction with real people, it seems proper to state that there are no real people in this volume: both the characters and their names are ficticious. The names or designations of any military units are ficticious. There are no living people nor existing military units presented in this book.

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
