Sorry sarge, if that was an apology it wasn’t even a half-a$$ one–more like one-eighth of a behind. He’s just peeved his betters are holding him to an adult standard of behavior, instead of his usual 2-year-old self. Note his preferred list of news sources–NYT, LA Times and the WAckyPo–and his disrespect for those trying to protect him is no longer a surprise.
Let us see if his perceptions of those who serve have changed… the proof will be in his writing. We will see if the apology is truly an apology for not seeing the truth or for just being caught being a jerk. Unfortunately… he is not completely off the hook for me.

In view of a recent tendency to identify characters in fiction with real people, it seems proper to state that there are no real people in this volume: both the characters and their names are ficticious. The names or designations of any military units are ficticious. There are no living people nor existing military units presented in this book.

Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
