It looks like the harsh temperatures and dusty environment has taken its toll on my old laptop. I honestly didn’t think it would endure the trip over here but took a chance anyway (a memorial service is scheduled for tomorrow). If anyone out there knows where I can pick up a laptop cheap (operative word being cheap) and have it sent to an APO please let me know. Thanks. Sgt Hook out.

  1. Sent you an e-mail. I also put a little seed money in a “New Laptop Fund”. Knowing how much all of your readers enjoy what you write, I’m hoping everyone can kick a little something in to make the purchase a little easier on your wallet. I’m grateful for all you do for us, not only in your job, but in using this page to educate folks on all that our fine Military does and stands for!

  2. Walmart.com

They’re one of the ONLY companies that will ship expensive electronics to a PO box (which is what an APO/FPO address is most times) I bought a Toshiba Satallite through them about a year ago and have never been happier with a computer that i didn’t build.

  4. Hook, you should take a look at the Dell Outlet. They have several different laptops with severaly different price points. Toward the bottom right of the page at the link below it explains (in the outlet info center) what you’re getting. One of my buds bought from there 5 times with no problems…my next one will be purchased there.

I was on hold with them for over 40 minutes to see if they’d ship to an APO…my cell died and I lost the connection. Ugh. If they don’t ship to an APO maybe you could ship to your home and have Mrs. Hook send it to you.

  6. Dell does deliver to APO’s but you have to go through a certain website to place the order and there are rules you have to follow. Nothing major, just parameters of the order. Here is the link you need to do that.

It should work. If it doesn’t, let me know.

  7. Walmart.com will also ship to an APO, the delivery time is 3 to 6 weeks.

In view of a recent tendency to identify characters in fiction with real people, it seems proper to state that there are no real people in this volume: both the characters and their names are ficticious. The names or designations of any military units are ficticious. There are no living people nor existing military units presented in this book. -Ernest Hemingway

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
