3 May 2007

My heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful birthday wishes for this old and grumpy soldier. I apologize for not getting something up here sooner, duties have taken me on a couple of trips and kept me quite busy. I’ll soon be taking another trip to the Milblog Conference (thanks to all who helped make that happen) and will keep you updated. Thanks again for the warm wishes and your patience. Sgt Hook out.

  1. Just glad to see you’re alright and still planning on being at the conference. Hell, I was really starting to get worried. I would hate to think I’m be the only one in red chiffon!!!

  7. Hooray! Delighted to hear anything from you, Hook. Like the others, I checked on you every day & worried. Funny you said “old and grumpy”. Wait until your baby turns 46, which mine did this week… then see how old and grumpy you feel. :)

Enjoy the Milblog Conference for all of us who wanted to go and couldn’t. I’ll wave to you on the video (in my pj’s).

In view of a recent tendency to identify characters in fiction with real people, it seems proper to state that there are no real people in this volume: both the characters and their names are ficticious. The names or designations of any military units are ficticious. There are no living people nor existing military units presented in this book. -Ernest Hemingway

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
