23 January 2007

I don’t know if I’ll get to a computer at all today given what my schedule looks like, but a quick check on the polls this morning shows that A Soldier’s Perspective has surged yet again and Stryker Brigade News is solidly in second place. Two outstanding Milblogs that I’m honored to even be on the same list with, never mind chasing them in the polls.

This post is scheduled to publish at noon today when the voting ends over at You Served. I’d like to thank the folks at the VA Mortgage Center Blog for sponsoring the Best Milblog competition.

And I really want to thank ALL of you who took the time to cast a vote and spread the word, I’m truly humbled, and quite frankly amazed at how well Sgt Hook did, THANK YOU. A bake sale and car wash will be planned in the future to cover that plane ticket. Sgt Hook out.

  1. I don’t care what the votes say, Sgt. Hook IS the best. However, well done indeed.

Not only do we get the news that most MSM don’t feel the need to print, we get the best galldarn Sgt. Maj. in the US Amry to boot!

Then we get the Jaffy Chronicles and Jackie O’Shea! And that’s not even counting the No Tears in Heaven series and the pictorial and music videos!! And we all sit here and laugh-our-a$$-off/drop-tears-in our coffee at the caption contest ever week.

    You’re just the BEST Hook.

So you let us know when the bake sale and car wash is scheduled but I’ll be dropping my contribution in your Cup and Flower Fund in time for you to make your arrangements.

Ya gotta go this year, ya just gotta!!

  2. It matters not where you placed, in my mind I know the best when I see it—-that just happens to be YOU.

I can always eat and my vehicle could use a good washing—-so give a yell when those are on. :)

Give me a reminder as the time approaches and I’ll be by to show my appreciation for all you do…I will need the reminder cause well Missy seems to play with my memory from time to time—-I say I have a reason when I forget others have excuses—-but this is something I don’t want to allow it to get lost….So YOU remind ME and You will be shown a little appreciation.

    You are the Best!

  3. Dittos! We gave it the old Army Strong try and you did VERY well against some tough competition.

Who’s gonna write the AAR if you’re right there in the middle of it? My car sure needs washing, but I think I’d come out better/cheaper to hit the cup and flower again.

  4. Sgt Hook, I threw my blog behind CJ and them guys, but I like what you write and I did what I had to do. You’ll know what I mean when you check email.

    Take it easy, Peasy.

  5. Sgt. Hook, as a reader of CJ’s soldiers perspective you put up a good fight. I have ventured over from time to time to visit your blog, but I couldn’t resist helping out a lot of little ballerinas. Hopefully we all will find a way to help you make it to the milblog conference in DC this year.

  6. I’ve never had so much fun sending out that link and posting it a few places (Military) for exposure. Hook, there are many great blogs out there, but there’s just something about yours…and you. I think it’s safe to say that you’re a winner in all of our eyes.

My car has a lot of salt on it, and I sure would enjoy a brownie. :)

  7. Goooood Morning America!

Okay - here’s the deal. The contest is closed, and Sgt. Hook did not come in first… which is surprising and extremely disappointing. Jake said: Ok, I’m missing something.. What’s this about a conference? I thought the hook thing was

  10. Dear Hook,
Cheer up, the little Camp Lejeune ballerinas are the real winners here. CJ (at a Soldiers’ Perspective) is donating his winnings toward purchasing dance recital costumes for the girls at Camp Lejeune. Think of the happiness the money will bring to those little girls who are missing their deployed fathers.

You fought the good fight and I love reading your blog.

  11. Hi Sgt Hook,

I’m a regular at ASP, but came over to wish you all the best and leave a little something in your cup to help with your trip to DC! Took some time and read, you have great stuff!! Job well done.

  12. Hi,

I’m a regular reader at A Soldier’s Perspective and was encouraged to come pay you a visit, as CJ says you are trying to fund a trip to DC for a milblog conference. So I made a very small donation, and hope you are able to attend. Good job in the contest! I’ll be adding you to my sidebar and will look forward to reading more from your blog in the future.

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
