3 December 2006

I wish to extend my sincerest congratulations to the men and women of the seafaring, bell bottom wearing, swashbuckling, naval service for their victory over Army today. Well done goats! Sgt Hook out.

  1. Army started out quite well and I thought they might pull off a win. Have to admit I hollered for them a bit, but my young neighbor was a little shakey, wasn’t he? Sorry!

  2. Gracious as always, Sgt. We watched the game [of course!] and enjoyed the skills of both sides. Best of all, the Americans won.

  3. Of course, I wanted Army to win, but today Navy played better. What pleased me most about the game is that there were no fights on the field, no arguing with the refs, and good sportsmanship when it was over. They’re all damned good men.

  4. I too have to echo the comments already submitted! It’s tough to go through “the program” without seeing Army win, but we have to look at the game’s history…this has happened before, but in the other direction.

Unfortunately, it has not happened during a year when I had a bathrobe on the line in the traditional friendly bet with a middie or graduate of Canoe U. Yes my friends…I’ve bought quite a few grey bathrobes for people bobbing around on the seven seas, cruising below the polar ice caps or providing air support for us poor ground based folks…and I don’t really mind a bit!

I wouldn’t want to go to war without any member of our armed forces…we all contribute and most of all, we all sacrifice more than most.

So….having said that, I guess that Coach Ross and the rest of the boys will be hitting the chalk boards come Monday morning. Thank you for a season filled with some tremendous highs…won’t forget the A&M and Baylor game for awhile guys, but let’s work on a winning season if at all possible. For the seniors who played their last game yesterday…there are contests a plenty in your futures. Take the last few months you have along the Hudson to prep for those!

See you on the high ground…and GO ARMY, NAVY, MARINES and AIR FORCE! BEAT THE MUFSIDUN!

  7. It was almost unbearable at the Army bar last night on post, watching the game, with ~75 Navy Reserves serving time on deployment here. It was hard to be the only one cheering and booing at the ‘wrong times’ as I was informed by more then one ‘Master Chief’.

But it was still a good game to watch, and the best people to watch it with, but I did have to buy a lot of beers. Damn it Army you lost to a bunch of Boaters.

Hugs and kisses Navy from an R-REMF (Retired-REMF) soldier.

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
