Hook Productions presents, You Raise Me Up (on so many levels).

You Raise Me Up on Vimeo

Special thanks to Josh Groban for the beautiful lyrics, and to the U.S. Army for the outstanding photos; combined, they are truly inspirational. Sgt Hook out.

UPDATE: If after watching this video you find yourself inspired to do something for our troops, I’d ask that you consider giving to Project Valour-IT currently underway throughout the blogosphere, aimed at raising funds to provide laptops with voice activated software for our wounded warriors. Thank you.

  1. Sir, do those troops that you lead have any idea how incredibly lucky they are to have you?

Holy Cow. This is great. Wonderful song. Fabulous pictures. Thank you for putting it all together.

  2. Hook…

You consistently amaze me with your talents, your drive and your ability to take every post to a higher level. It’s a shame that we who have served and you who continue to serve are rarely recognized for more than what some see us to be. Yes, there’s no doubt that we can be a horribly brutal, effective fighting force…but for those who have studied history (the real stuff, not what’s in most text books today) realize that we’re certainly not alone in our intellectual abilities.

In my book, you rank right up with GEN Patton as a warrior-poet! Keep up the good work and keep those kids under your wings safe (that includes company grades as well.) I wish I could get my son into your unit!

Wish me luck on what I hope might be my last trek to Fortress Bliss. In the coming weeks I’ll be stepping into a realm of my own choosing, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training. Let’s hope that we can make this stick and not go down the road of “zero defects,” “communities of excellence” or TQM.

As always, you’ve beaten me to the high ground…but I’m not that far behind!

  6. Super! Dang, Hook - you just get better and better! LOVE the music! I second the notion that your soldiers are lucky, and all of us Americans sitting on our old butts in front of our computers are luckier still. One more big “Thank You” to all of you!

  7. You’ve done it again, Sergeant Major. Made me cry and remember. This song has the presence and power of a genuine folk song, and it is beautifully sung. When I was young, back in the 1950s, I used to have a folk song TV program on the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee on Friday nights. Everybody loved folk music at that point in time, and I think we were all the better for it. I miss the melodies and the universal truths, and this song brings them back for me. Thank you, my dear, and thank you once more for your great work in protecting us all.

  8. 5th annual celebration of my 35 natal anniversary (h/t Soul Pumpkin)

So was reading my friend’s blogs today and LOOK WHAT TIM DID! Thank you sweetheart. I also hit listen to saved messages on my cell phone so I could hear Brian singing happy birthday to me. So sweet. I will

  9. Mercy…. I don’t know what to say… That was beautiful and reinforced the great debt we owe to our men and women in uniform. How can we, as Patriotic Americans ever be able to say thanks enough for what you all have done? Words fail me.

  27. Thank you for such a wonder message. That was beautiful we owe our men and women in uniform so much. My son is over there now and it has help me understand the pride he has in what he is doing. If everyone would show the pride and love for our country they do what a difference it would make. God Bless You.

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
