While reading this week’s Army Times I came across an article about the current status of Army recruiting. As would be expected, the article focused largely on numbers and percentages relating to established recruiting goals as we approach the year’s end (Military recruiting works on the fiscal year calendar).

This hasn’t been widely reported in the MSM, at least not the outlets I frequently read, watch, or listen to, but the Army is currently at 104% of meeting its annual goal as of July 31st. Isn’t it odd that when the numbers fall short, the headlines are filled with recruiting woes, but when they’re exceeded…crickets chirp? Anyway, just thought you’d like to know that your Army recruiters are putting ‘em in boots in case you didn’t hear it elsewhere. Sgt Hook out.

  1. Thanks for the info. Too bad the MSM’s agenda won’t let them be more supportive, eh?

    :-)

Hope all is well in the Hook household….

  3. It’s headline news….

….when the Army misses its recruiting goals, but when they hit 104% of their goal you can hear a pin drop.

But there’s no bias in the media. None whatsoever.

  4. MSM report good news? Surely you jest. /sarcasm

Kudos to all of the Recruiters out there, and the men and women who’ve joined to serve our Country!

  5. LOL, Pixie. I am a National Guard recruiter and our numbers are not counted in with the Army. However, I wanted to comment that even when the news says “Army isn’t meeting recruiting goals” they fail to mention that at times the Army (and NG)will up their goal numbers to meet a financial requirement. For instance, the GaArNG (Georgia Army National Guard)raised its’ recruiting goal this year to over 10K recruits to get “extra” funding. We are already over 100% strength. If we fall short it will be reported as a failure even though we have ALREADY met the needed goals.

  6. You’ll notice today a report on recruiters as sexual predators. The actual numbers dont support a wide spread increase but this will be the counter to the recruiting goals being met. Not saying the media is biases though….

  7. I was pleased to see the age limit raised for Army recruits to 42. Per Army Times, I was surprised at the women signing up. Any chance the age will be bumped to 45?

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
