Y’know it really speaks loudly when men like Sgt. Braxton and 639 others reenlist to keep fighting a war that they know more about than any of us civilians. It’s quite awe-inspiring.

I think it’s beyond being a shame that more Americans aren’t hearing about such acts of heroism and bravery in the MSM. It’s malicious. Thanks for bringing us this story CSM!

I read a Washington Post article in the news this morning saying that some returning Iraqi vets were bitter because Americans seem to be disinterrested in the war, more interrested in American Idol, and not understanding of what is going on in Iraq. It said that for many, the gratitude they felt upon returning was soon replaced by bitter impressions of a country that seems to have forgotten that there are large scale combat operations going on.

The article says that a number of vets feel this way, but the examples listed are very few, and not all seem to be supportive of the view expressed by the headline, so I’m not sure about the validity of the story (no real suprise there). However, if there are any veterans who don’t feel appreciated, that is simply not acceptable. We must do everything we can to make sure these warriors like Sgt. Braxton know how much we appreciate the hardships and sacrafices they have endured and many will continue enduring for the rest of their lives.
