13 April 2006

Having recenlty learned how to use Movie Maker, I put together this show, inspired by the No Tears in Heaven post.

My sincere gratitude to Eric Clapton for the beautiful song, and the U.S. Army for the outstanding photos. Sgt Hook out.

  7. Hook…again, you continue to outdo even your previous best. Is there anything you can’t do?

Sitting there watching the movie…I couldn’t help think about what my son might be doing tonight under an Iraqi moon. Actually, I don’t even really know where he is…after returning after his mid-tour. Is it strange for a father to look at pictures like the ones in the feature, hoping to catch a glance of his son?

As to what I’m hoping heaven for soldiers is like (also hoping I make it to heaven of any kind) I can’t help but think that perhaps ALL soldiers will finally get to sit around the thousands of burning campfires…telling stories, listening to others, and just perhaps comparing notes.

Will we get to meet those that froze between campaign seasons in the Revolutionary War?

Will we be able to ask General Lee what he was thinking in July 1863 at Gettysburg?

Will we listen to what it was like approaching the French coastline in a landing craft in June of 1944? Man, I hope so!

For those of you that get there before me…make sure to save me a seat! For those that will follow, I’ll get your first round!

See you on the high ground!

  17. Dear Sgt.Hook and guys:
Wow, you did a GREAT job with this video. We don’t get to
see the good that you are doing in Iraq. We see it on the web sites but not in our liberal media. It’s a shame too. I
know there is another story out there. These brave American and co Countries that fight everyday for us to live in a free Country. And most of all for the Iraqi people to live in a free society. These people were victums way before we stepped on their soil. God Bless you for your service and the video! Great Job. Will look for more in the future…
God Bless You and all the Service Men Serving in the Armed Forces…..
Love In Christ Jesus! Happy Easter~

  21. God bless you and keep you all under the shadow of His wings, every minute of the day. The majority of us at home know the great things you are accomplishing, despite the efforts of the MSM to tell a different tale. Speak out, Boys and Girls, your stories will be heard. We love you and pray for you wherever you all are serving in this great big world. Go to bed at night, knowing that He Who keeps you will not slumber, neither does He sleep.

  24. Sgt. Hook, I wanted to ask if there was anyway possible that you’d permit me to publish your movie and song on my website. I would place it on the front page of the website listed and also http://militarygraphix.tripod.com My sites are free and provide the populace with great graphix and information, hoping to bring about the re-awareness there is still a war going on.

Thank you for your consideration and above all, your time.

  26. I looked up and a picture of my abuelo was lying around he was a pastor and I thought what do I do buelo, with this very difficult decision I have to make concerning my family? I looked in his eyes and there was a message that said Mija, you think you have a difficult decision to make? Look into the eyes of each of our soldiers. I looked in the eyes of our soldiers I thought what would I do if I was there what would I think , how would I make it? Why didn’t I join 20 years ago I would right now be with our soldiers? The only thing that came to mind is my abuelo telling me, mija you have, you are meant to be who you are,a soldier’s angel. Move forward and never quit. To all of our soldier’s I have your back and so does God,decisions are made for a reason.I would do everything the same as our soldiers, cry, laugh, sing, smile, hurt, love and pray.I am proud and pray every 1/2 a second for our soldiers.Dios te bendiga.

  27. God is great!

I know, your son, Eric Clapton is in gods hands. Joh. 3,16 “Denn so sehr hat Gott die Welt geliebt, dass er seinen eigenen Sohn für sie hergab.”

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
