Iran has been rattling nuclear sabers for quite some time now, culminating in the recent announcement by their president that they’ve succeeded in enriching uranium.
“I officially announce that Iran has joined countries with nuclear technology,” Ahmadinejad said.
This from a guy who is thought to be one of the terrorists that stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran back in November, 1979 taking some 70 American hostages.
I think most people know that a nuclear Iran brings with it serious implications in regards to the security of the U.S., Israel, and the world, as well as, to the stability of the region. There’s no overstating the threat to America should al Qaeda and the likes get their hands on a nuclear device, and we know Iran’s chief terrorist executive has called for the Jewish state to be “wiped off the map.” Then there’s Europe’s fear of being held hostage by one of its main suppliers of oil.
What we don’t hear much about, however, is the impact a nuclear Iran would have on the rest of the Arab world. Persia has long had aspirations to be the center of Islam and the Sunni v. Shiite feud would undoubtedly lead to a nuclear race in the Middle East that could be disastrous. I’m just sayin’. Sgt Hook out.
