Please be aware that other colors of stars besides gold and silver which were to be used to cover the white star on a service flag were established at the time of WW1. I just looked for my copy of the document I have which spells out the other colors and what they mean but could not locate it in the couple of minutes that I took. The document that I have is a catalog where people can order other proper colors and which quotes from the official order establishing the other colors.

Great idea, but I think the name could be a little confusing. The Gold Star and Blue Star banners/names are not easily confused with a military decoration. The first think that popped into my mind with the name Silver Star families was the Silver Star (i.e. families of those awarded the medal for valor in combat). Maybe that is one of the reasons for your difficulty in getting the idea traction in Congress. What about the Purple Star Families (all our war wounded are awarded the Purple Heart). Just thoughts

Sgt. Hook,
Thank you for honoring the SSFOA. Since joining up with Steve, life has been a whirlwind. So many wonderful things are 'coming around' for us, with folks like you who help us get our word out there.
It never ceases to amaze me: We are honoring, recognizing and thanking our Wounded Heroes....and the tears flow when they thank us.
We've 'adopted' a few slogans....Onward and Forward and the words of another Hero, "Let's Roll".
May God continue to bless the SSFOA and all of the wonderful Americans who are coming to know our Mission.
God Bless America and Our Soldiers!
Blessings,
Lynn Price
