20 December 2005

That’s right, I’ve got a case of the ass. How in the hell do some folks rant about how we’re sending our sons and daughters to their deaths and then turn around and blab their fat mouths off about a secret operation aimed at defeating our enemies?

A secret 400-page Defense Department document obtained by NBC News…

I may be just a dumb soldier but secret documnets are just that, SECRET, and for a good gottdamned reason. What is the MSM doing here? Aiding and abetting? I’m very concerned about the willingness of some to leak sensitive information in order to obtain personal or political gains.

From our Commander In Chief…

Our mission in Iraq is critical in the victory in the global war on terror. After our country was attacked on September the 11th and nearly 3,000 lives were lost, I vowed to do everything within my power to bring justice to those who were responsible. I also pledged to the American people to do everything within my power to prevent this from happening again. What we quickly learned was that al Qaeda was not a conventional enemy. Some lived in our cities and communities, and communicated from here in America to plot and plan with bin Laden’s lieutenants in Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere. Then they boarded our airplanes and launched the worst attack on our country in our nation’s history.

This new threat required us to think and act differently. And as the 9/11 Commission pointed out, to prevent this from happening again, we need to connect the dots before the enemy attacks, not after. And we need to recognize that dealing with al Qaeda is not simply a matter of law enforcement; it requires defending the country against an enemy that declared war against the United States of America.

There in lies the problem. Some folk just don’t think we have an enemy and can’t get past the notion that we ought to be reading Miranda rights to the bad guys. Well, I’m here to tell you that we not only have an enemy, but we’re facing one like none have faced in history. The rat bastards who declared war on America on September 11th, 2001 are smart, determined, savvy, and adaptive and oh by the way, they laugh their asses off at our Miranda rights. Rest assured they don’t miss a trick and they have already changed their tactics thanks to NBC News and the likes, making it even more difficult on our soldiers fighting in the trenches.

Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not against righting a wrong. If our government, or an agency thereof, engages in immoral or illegal activities I think it prudent to address the issues, however, not in the gottdamned MSM. There are already avenues in place to handle issues of a sensitive nature and the only reason someone would choose to address such issues in the MSM is purely for personal or political gain, and that sickens me.

I can only hope that in the unfortunate event our enemy wins, I survive long enough to be jailed alongside some of those who gained politically, or personally, at the expense of America. Sgt Hook out.

  1. …or long enough to take a few of them out! We’re overrun with traitors nowadays.

  2. I am with you. Whoever leaked the document should be punished. I understand the need to whistleblow in some cases, but the more I read about this particular situation, the less convinced I am that anything illegal has been happening.

That doesn’t mean I don’t want open dialogue about who can be spied upon under what circumstanaces. I want that. I don’t want it at the expense of people who are working to keep this country secure from future attacks.

  3. Fair enough. I doubt that the AQ guys have been operating under the assumption their emails wouldn’t be tapped, but in the off chance they weren’t, and this hurts our efforts, they get full responsibility.

I’d like to see Bush make his case, though, now that the cat’s out of the bag so to speak, for doing things the way he did, rather than using court orders. I’m not saying that the case can’t be made, simply that he hasn’t made it yet. Or if he has, where should I look?

    Take it sleazy.

  4. Hook, I only have one issue with your post. War was not declared on us on 9/11. It was long before that. Remember the 444 days of humiliation while Iran held our people hostage? The two Beruit Bombings in 1983?

This war has been going on for a long time. The difference is that this president is treating it as a war, not a law enforcement problem. That confuses some in the media who got used to 20+ years of dealing with terrorism after the incidents, not proactively.

This is a diffent war, and it’s time folks got off their asses and realized it is one, and it has been going on for a long time, and we finally have someone on office with balls enough to do something about it.

Pardon my rough language, as someone who helped carry dead and dying marines from helicopters in Beruit, I take this war personally.

  5. I stand corrected CP and agree, we’ve been at war for far longer than many will admit. Thanks for keeping me straight, rough language and all ;)

  6. I’m not surprised at anything the MSM would publish. These are the same people who wanted to provide us with troop movements and exact details of what they were doing during the initial push into Iraq.

Apparently if you can’t win a war by telling everyone in the world every move you mean to make and every tactic you have available to you… while the other side can hide everything… then you don’t deserve to win and are stupid for even attempting the feat.

Now in this new spirit of openness - I want the MSM to come clean on who leaked this little bit of news to the world. After all - they’re the ones who insist on telling all - all the time.

  7. Teresa, don’t you remember, THEY get to have unnamed sources, or they wouldn’t be able to do their jobs. So the media gets to keep secrets, no one else can :)

Hook, No problem. Blood is boiling a little today, found out the guy who killed SW2(DV)Robert Stethem on an airplane was recently released from prison after 19 years of a “life” sentence. Thanks Germany!

  8. WHEN we get hit again, the leakers and those who publish the leaks will have American blood on their hands. And, no, I’m not talking about the entire democrat, MSM-fueled Valeria Plame silliness.

    Comment by Jim - PRS — 20 December 2005 @ 2343

  9. Thanx, Crazy Politico, for voicing what I was going to regarding when this war really started.
As for the MSM and this LATEST act of treason…I’d make Marines blush if I actually posted what I’m thinking!

  10. Let me return the “Amen brother.”

If you or I went to the press to right a wrong, perceived or real, they’d have our asses, chapped and all.

I think we need to get Diceman on TV and let him give a Security Briefing to the country. For those of you not in the military, Diceman is a former Army Intel Officer who goes from base to base giving funny and very pointed security awareness briefings. Even people who beahve themselves feel dumb after he’s done with you.

    Comment by Timmer — 21 December 2005 @ 2136

  11. Sorry, that should have been DICEman.

    Comment by Timmer — 21 December 2005 @ 2145

  12. It looks like the NYT got scooped by Wired News about four years ago.

Still that doesn’t excuse them. Because their motives are to undermine this President and his administration and in turn that undermines our Military and our Countries safety.

I say charge them all and settle it in court.

In view of a recent tendency to identify characters in fiction with real people, it seems proper to state that there are no real people in this volume: both the characters and their names are ficticious. The names or designations of any military units are ficticious. There are no living people nor existing military units presented in this book. -Ernest Hemingway

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
