Heh — my brother did that incomprehensible act several times as part of his training with the Texas Airborne reserve unit he joined in the 70’s after serving his active duty. He made it sound almost fun — obviously hallucinating or something!
Most military aircraft usually have something wrong with them, a hydraulic leak, engine trouble, or landing gear problems. Don’t think of it as jumping think of it as an evacuation.:)
