Thankful

This Thanksgiving holiday, in no particular order, I am extremely thankful for the following:

God’s blessings (the ACLU can kiss my ass)
The privilege and honor of serving my country in uniform these past 17 Thanksgivings
The lovely and talented and downright sexy Mrs. Hook (I definately married up)
Peanut butter (long story)
My mom and my dad (an understatement to be sure)
America (and her brilliant forefathers)
My boys (a better band of pirates you’ll not find)
My friends (and you know who you are)
My brother (a true salty dog who I’m damn glad is on our side)
My sister (an angel)
Rock and Roll
My in-laws (a better band of in-laws you’ll not find)
YOU (the support you’ve shown these past months has touched this old soldier, deeply)
My brothers and sisters in arms, past and present (they’re why we’re eating turkey today)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and God Bless. Sgt Hook out.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for family, our nation, and especially for our brave men and women who risk all to keep me safe. I too am thankful for our government and am hoping that we will return to the freedoms given all of us in the constitution–ie., freedom to worship and to acknowledge our heritage despite those who want to take all mention of God from our land. Those who will not mention that it is God we give thanks to as in Maryland schools or the teacher forbidden to read the declaration of independence because it mentions our creator. I believe we have similar views of the ACLU. God bless you.

  11. Sgt. Major - we are thankful for YOU and your soldiers. It is because of you that we have a Thanksgiving Day. So, to all of you, may you have a wonderful peaceful day with excellent food (well maybe the food part is asking a bit much from the Army… but one can always hope). :-)

Just like Ronald Reagan & Brian Mulroney.

Most good guys do marry up and are grateful for it.

  20. Hi Sgt.

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

I would like you to take a look at a project that might help you and your men out one day. It is at www.bringmehome.org

I would be very interested in writing to you or your men on a more regular basis. I am researching for my subject over the next few years and I am interested in speaking with soldiers currently in combat. This is a personal thing and has nothing to do with politics, religion, the media etc.

    Please write. Thanks! ~ninon

  21. The long weekend is now over, and I am back in my on-campus house, with a ton of course work to get done that I got behind on, due to the elections, and CRs. However, I wanted to drop a note here belatedly wishing you and yours readers a *Happy Thanksgiving* - and I wanted to also thank you especially for your heroic service to our nation. God bless you, and please keep up the great work!

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
